Nusa Dua with Kids: How Bali's Most Elegant Corner Does Family Travel Properly

Bali has a funny way of exceeding expectations. You think you know what you're going
to get - beautiful chaos, incense smoke, something vaguely spiritual happening on every
corner - and then you arrive in Nusa Dua and realise this particular corner of the island
plays by completely different rules.
It's calm here. Genuinely, luxuriously calm. And somehow, it manages to be calm even
with two small children in tow.
We came looking for that elusive thing: a holiday that felt like a proper break for us
and a genuinely brilliant adventure for the kids. Nusa Dua delivered both - and then some.

Our Stay at The Mulia Nusa Dua
The Mulia is big. Properly big. The kind of big that, on arrival, makes you wonder
whether it's going to feel like a resort or an airport. Within about twenty minutes,
that question was answered - it feels like a resort. A very, very good one.
The scale that could have felt impersonal actually works brilliantly for families,
because it means space - space for the kids to run, space between sunbeds, space
to breathe. The multiple pools each have their own personality: one is lively and
fun, one is quieter, one is adults-only (more on that in a moment). Ours spent
approximately 80% of the holiday in the water and were absolutely delighted about it.
The service throughout was the kind that makes everything feel easy. Genuinely warm
staff who were patient with the kids, remembered our names by day two, and had a
knack for appearing at exactly the right moment. That's the thing about a great
resort - you shouldn't have to think about logistics. At The Mulia, you don't.

Enrichment at the Kids' Club
The kids' club at The Mulia was a revelation in low-key luxury for parents. This was not a chaotic playroom; instead, it was a thoughtfully designed space. Our children engaged in enriching activities under the care of attentive staff. Knowing they were happily occupied with Balinese crafts and fun games allowed us to indulge in moments of grown-up relaxation.
We enjoyed quiet coffees overlooking the ocean and leisurely dips in the adults-only pool. This setup provided pockets of serene indulgence for us while ensuring enriching experiences for the kids.
Dining Experiences in Nusa Dua
Family dining can be the weak link on a luxury holiday - either you're in a restaurant
that's clearly built for adults and your children are tolerated rather than welcomed,
or you end up at the "family-friendly" option which is just fish fingers and
disappointment. Nusa Dua surprised us here too.
Izakaya by Oku, at the Kempinski, looks, on paper, like it should be adults-only - all
sleek lines and low lighting. In practice, the staff were brilliant with the kids,
and watching mine cautiously try edamame and sushi for the first time in a genuinely
beautiful setting was one of those travel moments you want to bottle. High-quality
Japanese food, relaxed atmosphere, no side-eyes from other diners. Loved it.

We loved the effortlessly stylish K Club, which struck a balance between upscale and entirely comfortable for kids. The stunning beachfront setting served as a natural playground. Its casual yet refined menu pleased both adult palates and little appetites.
The sense of understated elegance did not feel exclusionary. We could enjoy the beautiful surroundings while our children happily played in the sand.

The Unique Luxury of Nusa Dua
Nusa Dua reveals a unique kind of luxury. It prioritises ease and enjoyment for the whole family. It’s about experiencing high-end hospitality without sacrificing the simple joys of watching your children discover the magic of a new place.
Nusa Dua is the answer to the question every family asks before a luxury trip: can
we actually relax, or will we spend the whole time managing everyone's needs and
never quite switching off? The answer here is yes - you'll relax. Properly.
It's not the Bali of wild rice terraces and spiritual retreats (there are other
corners of the island for that). It's elegant, easy, and set up beautifully for
families who want the full luxury experience without having to compromise on any of
it.
